Setting up Mobile Dashboard

Before you can view dashboards and dashboard reports, follow these steps to set up the Mobile Dashboard application:

  1. Synchronize
  2. Import Sage reports and dashboards or import custom reports (optional)
  3. Create dashboard reports (optional)
  4. Create dashboards
  5. Set access rights for the dashboard reports and dashboards

Synchronizing

When the Mobile Dashboard application is first set up, the Synchronize process must be performed. Under certain circumstances (such as when there are new users, roles, custom fields, or companies), the Synchronize process must be performed again. See the Sage Construction Central Setup Guide for more information.

Note: You must have a Mobile Dashboard Designer license, be an Application Administrator (in Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate), and have the SQL Server sysadmin role to perform the synchronization.

Importing Sage reports and dashboards

You can import the Sage dashboard reports to use for your dashboards as well as use them as a basis to create your own customized dashboard reports. Starting with version 18.2, you also import two Sage sample dashboards when you import Sage reports. For a description of the reports and dashboards provided by Sage, see Sage reports and dashboards.

Tip: Watch the Import Sage Reports video for more information.

Note: You must have a Mobile Dashboard Designer license to import Sage reports and dashboards.

After the Synchronize process finishes, import the Sage reports and dashboards:

  1. If you have more than one company, select one of the companies as the Data Source in the title bar. The reports are associated with this database.
  2. In the menu on the left, select Dashboards > Import Sage Reports and Dashboards. If the menu is not in view, click (the menu icon) to display the menu.

Note: The import process may take a few minutes.

The imported reports are placed in a local category named "Sage" with the database name.

  3. If you have more than one company database, repeat steps 1 and 2 to import the reports and dashboards and associate them with the other database.
  4. To view the imported reports, select Dashboards > View Reports. To view the imported dashboards, select Dashboards > View Dashboards.

For information about setting the security permissions for the reports and dashboards, see Access rights.

Importing custom dashboard reports

Starting with version 18.2, you can import dashboard reports created by others, such as your consultant.

To import custom dashboard reports:

  1. If you have more than one company, select one of the companies as the Data Source in the title bar. The reports are associated with this database.
  2. In the menu on the left, select Dashboards > Import Reports. If the menu is not in view, click (the menu icon) to display the menu.

Note: The import process may take many minutes.

  3. In the Open window, browse to the folder that contains the report files, select the file or files to import, and click [Open].

Note: The dashboard reports that you can import have the .BIRT extension. Dashboards have the .BIRD extension.

  4. In the Import window, click [Import].

Tip: Depending on your browser, the window may show the number of files selected for import. For example, If you use Chrome and hover your mouse over [Choose Files], the files are listed; you can click [Choose Files] to return to step 3. If you use Edge or Firefox, click [Browse] to return to step 3.

The bottom of the Import window shows the progress of the import. This area also displays any error messages.

The imported reports are placed in a local category named "IMPORTED ON" with the import date and time, such as the IMPORTED ON 2018-10-12T14:15:00 category for reports imported October 12, 2018 at 2:15 pm.

  5. If you have more than one company database, repeat steps 1 - 4 to import the custom reports and associate them with the other database.
  6. To view the imported reports, select Dashboards > View Reports and then select the category named "IMPORTED ON" with the import date and time.
  7. If you want to move a report to another category:

    1. Click (the expand icon) at the far right of the report name to display the report details.
    2. In the buttons near the bottom of the report details, click [Move].
    3. In the Move Report window, select the category or subcategory for the report.
    4. Click [OK].

Note: If you move all of the reports out of a category, that category no longer displays on the REPORTS page.
